Ratings are updated once a week, so any change is reflective of an average of ratings left in the previous week (no one student's review will decrease your overall rating).
That said, we do extensive filtering to eliminate unfair ratings (more info on that here), so that your tutor rating is reflective of students' interactions with you.
The best way to improve your ratings is to try your best to impress every student you get. Some methods that have been successful for top tutors are:
- focusing the session on the student's specific needs
- coming prepared with a library full of great content
- giving many corrections
- maintaining a friendly and encouraging atmosphere
The bottom line is, if a student believes that you are helping them, they will not only rate you highly, but also come back to you again and again. A great rating is just a byproduct of helping your students. Check the Tutor Guide for some Best Practice Videos from top tutors.
