You can manage your reservations here. If you'd like to allow students to reserve a tutoring session with you in advance, you need to open Reservation availability in this tab. Reservations are a great way to make the most of your time on Cambly. Many veteran tutors on Cambly get back-to-back reservations every day!
The Reservation System
You should set your reservation availabilities for time periods you are free to take student reservations. You can also set how much advance notice you need for reservation requests. As you grow your base of regular students, reservations are a great way to make efficient use of your time - you’ll know exactly which times to log on in order to speak with your regular students.
You should update your reservation time slots continuously if there are changes. This way, students only schedule time with you when you know you will be available.
Students can reserve sessions lasting from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Once a student reserves a time with you, you’ll receive a reservation notification sent to your email. You will be asked to confirm or cancel your reservation directly from the email (or you can do it from the Reservations tab). If you no longer can make the reservation time, you should cancel the reservation by clicking on the link in the notification email. We’ll then notify the student that you cannot make the reservation.
During the reservation, you will be paid based on the number of minutes that you chat. That means if you continue chatting with the student after the reservation time ends, you will be paid for all minutes that you chat. Alternatively, if you chat for less than the reservation time, you will be paid only for those minutes that you chatted.
The 10-Minute Rule
If the student is late, you are only required to wait for 10 minutes after the scheduled start time. While you wait, you can answer other students' calls in the meantime. We alert the incoming student that you may need to leave soon, so there should be no surprises. Also we'll alert you in the chat room when your reserved student calls in, so that you can switch over to the reserved student with one click.
If the student is a no-show, you will be automatically paid for your 10 minutes of wait time.
Alternatively, if you have either missed a reservation or are more than 10 minutes late, your reservation schedule may be cleared. We understand that sometimes things come up, but as they hurt the student experience, we urge you to keep no-shows at a minimum.
